Not just Surviving
Thriving!
About us
Healing the Stitched-Up Heart was created as an outlet to journal and save my writings as I navigated my own open heart surgery journey from diagnosis through recovery.
Cardiac surgery is often emergent and without prior warning. Where do you go as a new patient for information, support, encouragement and inspiration? I didn’t know either. I thought I was supposed to just do it myself and get on with life.
Open heart surgery is serious, but it does not have to be the end of your life. It may just be the beginning. I want to share with you my experience and encourage you to not just survive open heart surgery, but thrive. Enter my blog to see the possibilities.
See What We Offer
I’m starting this on a whim and running with it. The content is varied and was originally intended as part of David Goggins’ program to document progress in goal attainment. I found that it helped heal me and amazingly helped others in various heart surgery groups. Originally reluctant to share, I wrote for myself as part of Goggins’ methodology. After dropping a brief missive here and there the positive feedback and requests for more stories started to flow in. I opened up more and published longer stories with great hesitation. It took a life of its own and now the requests for my blog have been overwhelming, so here is my little place on the web. It’s my storage for all my writings and even a video or two.

Photos along the way
For no other reason than I like them, I’ll share some of the snapshots of my journey. Some cool, some fun, some embarrassing. Look, it’s not all perfect. Some things are not as we would like them. You know what? It’s OK.
